Legislative Session Outcomes 2016

The 2016 Legislative Session revealed the shift created by our state’s economic recovery.  With funding for the McCleary decision still at the forefront of legislators’ minds, we still had significant legislation passed and budget proviso items approved that had a positive impact for human services.  Governor Inslee signed the Care Act and an update to tenant screenings to help support keeping people in housing, both items on our 2016 Legislative Agenda.  While EHSF was hopeful in asking for increases to key budget areas, such as Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), the Housing Trust Fund and Early Childhood, the legislature simply maintained its current level of funding.
